A little about me:
One of my earliest memories was learning how to swim; it is something I have been doing for as long as I can remember, I had swimming lessons from a very early age up until about 16 years old. I remember how much of an impact swimming had in my life, how much I enjoyed the lessons, playing with friends and most importantly the freedom to swim on my own! This is one of the reasons why I want to make sure that as a swim instructor I provide a great experience for the person learning how to swim.
I started training under Ms. Jerrica to become a lifeguard as well as a swim instructor for Making Waves School, and for months I paid close attention to the techniques that would allow swimmers to quickly become more comfortable in order to swim on their own. After completing my First Aid, CPR, AED and Lifeguard certifications, I had some more exposure to training. My teaching style was modeled after my training and experience, so it is a very natural progression from floating, to elementary swimming, which would allow them to at least get to safety on their own. After this goal has been reached and well established, we would then start working on developing the techniques behind backstroke, freestyle, breastroke and butterfly.
The aim during a class is to have a balance between fun and learning, which helps the student build the physical and mental foundations of swimming. I like to encourage the students in an enjoyable way, to build their confidence and guide them to independence.
