My prior swim experience begins as young as I can remember from taking classes at my local ymca. I have been swimming for what feels like my entire life. If I had to some up my personality, I would say I am very patient with a high empathy for others. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy teaching all ages how to swim. I genuinely enjoy helping and teaching people new skills . My teaching style is very adaptive to each individual’s skill set. Although all my lessons are centered around the key skills needed to thrive in water.
I really enjoy teaching beginners, learning good habits and techniques at an early age can be very beneficial to creating a strong swimmer. This is why we teach basic survival skills prior to any formal strokes. This is important because it will keep the student safe if they are ever in a position where they are struggling in the water, as well as create confidence and peace of mind. I feel it is crucial to get the student comfortable in the water and with you in order to properly motivate them. I also try to keep the lessons light and fun while meeting goals set by myself and the parents.
I am certified as a life guard, and basic life support certification, which means I have been trained in the most recent forms of water rescues along with a comprehensive understanding of CPR and the use of a defibrillator.
