A little about me:
Hi, I’m Jennifer! I began competitive swimming as a freshman in high school and was captain my junior and senior year. At 16, I began teaching swim lessons and lifeguarding at a day camp. Since then, I have continued to teach in a variety of environments including gyms and college pools. I have experience teaching all ages and levels and believe that everyone can learn to swim, even those who take a bit longer to grasp skills!
As for my teaching style, I love to make-up references that make the skill fun and easy to remember. In the end, it is instructive fun for all! Also, although not part of competitive swimming, I do teach the safety strokes: Elementary backstroke and Sidestroke, as alternative ways to move through the water.
At the beginning of the session, I ask the parents or participants their goals for the session. We can work out an effective plan to achieve the most realistic goals.
Currently, I am CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguard, and WSI certified.
