A little about me:
Hi! I’ve been involved with the sport of swimming since 2005. I became a competitive swimmer at a young age and then ended my competitive career when I graduated college as an NCAA Division 1 athlete. Outside of the pool, I am very artistic and crafty. I love to paint and listen to music in my downtime, and also take my dog for hikes. I love to teach swimming because I believe that it’s not only a great exercise, but it is an essential life skill for anyone to learn. My teaching style is very simple – I like to examine the skill level of the student and teach each part thoroughly until it is fully mastered. Depending on the age of the student, I like to teach lessons through games using equipment or drills and exercises that will help with technique.

Working with beginners is always fun! I enjoy being a part of my students’ first steps into this amazing sport. When I first started swimming I was very nervous, but with the help from my coaches, I was able to love swimming.

The reason why I started swimming was that as a child I almost drowned in a public pool. For this reason, learning how to survive in the water was a life goal. I never want anyone to experience that same fear! Therefore, starting with the complete basics is extremely important. I like to motivate the students with words of inspiration and show them how proud I am to be their teacher. Having 3 younger siblings, I am great with kids! Having patience and being able to clearly communicate is important. Talking with the parents before and after the lessons is helpful because we all get to be on the same page with expectations.

I am a Lifeguard, CPR, AED, First Aid and Emergency Care Certified. My swimming career consists of holding multiple records at my local YMCA, as well as going to States, Nationals, and receiving a swimming scholarship for an out-of-state university. I am excited about the opportunity to swim with you and your family!
