A little about me:
Hello parents and students!
My name is Matthew, I’ve been swimming for many years now. I started at a summer camp and remember very well taking the deep end test as a child. Very fun times! Since then, I’ve continued to hone and sharpen my skills in the water, going as far as taking college swimming classes to further refine my teaching techniques. I’m usually a very calm person, but I can be pretty passionate about the things I enjoy, like swimming. That’s one of the reasons I’m with Making Waves Swim School; to share that passion and love for the water just as I grew up with.
Some students might be embarrassed about not knowing how to swim. I say pish-posh. Everyone was once a beginner, from the top athletes to the most novice. I consider it a duty to help students of all skill levels develop the fundamental techniques needed to not only have fun in the water, but most importantly, stay safe! That’s why learning survival techniques is among the first things I teach, before any fancy strokes are introduced. Whether the student is a fast, slow or special needs learner, it doesn’t matter. We’ll hammer home each lesson at each students’ own unique learning pace while maintaining a safe atmosphere. As you and your child are a team, I like to work together with parents to make sure progress and exceptions are met. I enjoy documenting each students’ progress and continually building upon them while sharing and welcoming feedback from you.
As safety is our top priority, all swimming instructors, myself included, hold current American Red-Cross Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR certifications. You can rest easy knowing your little fish is in safe hands.
There really isn’t much else to say except, see you in the water!
