A little about me:
Hello parents and students!

My name is Matthew. I’ve been swimming for many years starting at a very young age. Since then, I’ve continued to sharpen my skills in the water, even going the extra mile and earning my “Water Safety Instructor Certification”. That’s one of the reasons I’m with Making Waves Swim School; to share that passion and love for the water that I grew up with!

I have 1000+ hours in teaching experience, so I consider it a privilege to help students of all ages and skill levels develop the fundamental techniques needed to not only swim at a high level, but most importantly, stay safe in the water. That’s why learning survival techniques is among the first things I teach before any strokes are introduced. Whether the student is a fast, slow, or special needs learner, it doesn’t matter. All lessons are conducted at each students’ own unique learning pace. My goal for new swimmers may also be explained in these 3 goals:

Comfort and Safety

Technique

Endurance

As a new swimmer, my first goal is to get you comfortable and safe being in the water. Once you’re confident and comfortable, we’ll work on technique and eventually endurance. We’ll learn everything gradually, and at your own comfortable pace. That being said, I find simplicity works best in teaching swim, so I break most strokes down into 3 easy drills:

Kicks

Breathe Timing

Arms

This approach works very well for most of my students! I don’t believe in doing dozens of different drills for one aspect of a particular swim because it’s unnecessary and excessive in my view. My approach leads to fast results, and less confusion in my experience. You’ll learn all that, and tons more when I see you!

Looking forward to working with you!
