A little about me:
Hello, my name is Dasha! I’m currently a college student, and I have always been passionate about swimming. I swam competitively starting at age 9. I like to describe myself as creative and charismatic. I believe I’m also both idealistic and enthusiastic. I first begin teaching swim lessons when I was 15, and I quickly fell in love with the job. I grew a passion when it came to seeing my students and seeing them improve.
When I am teaching, I know it is important to make that my student is comfortable and ensure that safety is our top priority. This helps to build trust with the student to encourage them when trying new skills. Working with beginners is both rewarding and enjoyable, because everyone’s swim journey has to start somewhere! It’s important for beginner swimmers to not panic if they get themself into an unfamiliar swim situation. By making the student feel comfortable during lesson times, they will be able to recall skills learned to keep them safe in the water.
Motivating my students is also an important part of lessons, too! I think reminding them how much progress they made is one way to motivate them, or by making a “deal” where educational playtime is promised after work has been achieved. Keeping communication open with my swimmers and their parents is always important to me too, and I like to make sure the parents feel included and knowledgeable about their swimmer’s lessons. I love to see my students progress and I love to share the excitement about that progress with the parents. My current certification includes Lifeguard certification along with CPR and First Aid. Let’s get swimming!
