A little about me:
Hello Prospective Swimmers!
Growing up in Northern California, I was surrounded by endless opportunities to be in the water, which only encouraged my lifelong love for the ocean. My journey into competitive swimming began in middle school when I joined the swim team, where I built a strong foundation in technique and discipline. However, over time, I realized that my passions lay elsewhere, and I transitioned out of the competitive swimming lifestyle. After stepping away from competition, I focused on ocean-centered activities, like surfing, teaching surf lessons, and participating in Junior Lifeguarding. These experiences deepened my love for the water and shaped my personal and professional journey. Swimming has always been more than a skill for me, it’s a passion that continues to inspire me every day. Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching and empowering swimmers, and it has become one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.
In my approach to teaching, I aim to create a positive and open-minded environment, understanding that everyone is on their own unique journey. I believe in meeting swimmers where they are, respecting their experiences, and fostering a space where everyone feels valued and understood. My passion for the water drives me to help others develop confidence both in and around water, which I believe is a crucial life skill. Teaching swimming is not only about teaching practical skills but also about empowering individuals to feel safe and capable in the water. I strive to make lessons enjoyable by balancing comfort with new challenges, ensuring growth and building confidence, which sets the foundation for long-term success.
For beginners, I understand that swimming can be intimidating, and that’s why I believe in starting small and gradually building confidence. Each swimmer’s journey is unique, and simply showing up is a major step forward. I focus on mastering survival skills first: teaching swimmers how to stay afloat, keep their heads above water, and safely reach the edge. These foundational skills are lifesaving and will give swimmers the confidence they need to refine their technique and learn formal strokes later on. Motivation is rooted in genuine support, and I believe that when children feel truly encouraged, they are more likely to trust in their abilities. I also believe in adapting my approach to support swimmers of all abilities, including those with special needs, ensuring each individual gets the attention and guidance they need to thrive.
I am certified in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross, and I hold a current lifeguard certification, which ensures that I prioritize safety at all times. Additionally, I have completed the Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, which has equipped me with specialized training to teach swimming and water safety effectively.
I’m thrilled to share my passion for swimming with you and help you or your child achieve success in the water!
