A little about me:
I can honestly say I’ve been in the water for so long, it feels like second nature for me! The water is a happy place in my life. However, my first memory of swimming is when I was 5 years old, and my grandfather had to save me from a lake. I swam just a little too far out, and while that was a scary experience, it was the start of my learn-to-swim journey. When I was 12, I started more technical training, learning my different strokes so that I could join a swim team. I began lifeguarding at 18, and enjoyed the element of being by the water. While I was lifeguarding, I saw the enjoyment in teaching, and grew to want to pursue that. I began teaching in 2020, and while my teaching style has adapted over the years, my philosophies have not! My students love that I am a fun and bubbly instructor, who always shows up with positive energy.

When it comes to beginners, whether they’re children who are just starting out, or adults who have lifelong fears, I want to make all my students feel as comfortable as possible. I believe that teaching survival swimming takes priority, which means understanding what methods keep you most safe while you enjoy the water! Humans went from water to land, so I like to teach my swimmers how to ‘go back’ to the water. We may not be able to breathe underwater, but we can learn to float and practice our breathing instead! I think teaching safety skills makes all the harder techniques down the road that much easier! You have your safety net of water safety skills to keep you afloat (literally!) while learning new things. I try to motivate my swimmers with kind words, and of course, by showing them how much fun I have in the water and inviting them to join in! It is important to me to make sure my swimmer, their parents, and I are on the same page for lessons. I welcome open communication to ensure that we are reaching your goals! Feeling excited to return to swim week over week is what I always hope to foster for my students.

I currently hold my CPR/AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and WSI certificates. Let’s jump in and learn to love swimming together!
